Much has been said about the MRT breakdown. The hot air has not dissipated yet.
Let's look from another perspective in a calm manner. Who was it who said something to this effect - some see problems and would sigh or complain while others see opportunities.
What are some opportunities for the people trapped in the darkness of MRT trains, stations and tunnel, or caught in traffic jam, or unable to go home?
1. It's a good time to explore the many functions of the new iphone or cellular phone you have bought.
2. Wah, big angry crowd in hot MRT stations. Income opportunities - set up stalls selling drinks, phone battery as everybody will be busy talking or SMSing till batteries run flat, neon-lights used for Christmas light-ups, etc.
3. Tell your wife or in-laws you can't see them because you are caught in the tunnel (you could be elsewhere having a drink with your buddies, or in the casinos gambling).
4. Right time to seriously think of buying that new car you have been eyeing while waiting for the COE to drop,
5. Trade mark a hard hammer-like handphone that can break MRT windows in case of emergency in a tunnel.
Surely there are many more opportunities Singaporeans can see in such a situation.
By the way, some commuters complain that they did not get any emergency directions or announcements from train drivers. Don't they know that the MRT trains are driverless?
My sympathies go to those who have to rush to hospitals to visit a sick family members, to retrieve their children from childcare centres.
