Everything is fine and dandy.

Not because of our people capabilities, skills and knowledge which have been built up over the years.

But it exposes the vacuum our own people have left when we discard engineering as one of our career choices and focus on more lucrative jobs such as finance.

And we have to import substandards third world technicians from developing countries to manage developed technologies from first world countries.

Now the country is finally paying for it after so many years!! Happy SG50! Hee!

Not to worry Jesus will protect us.

This is why minimum wage and unions come in handy, when u have some jobs paying much more than others, people would rather flock to the highly paid jobs than the low ones.pretty soon we have a country full of managers and bureaucrats and supervisors who just want to sit on their ass and talk crap all day long like leong sam,and when shit hits the fan they push blame to the underlings and the people who keeps the shit working while they express their "disappointment"on news

U are way off the point here. U can have the best railway engineers in the world, but when they are managed by an ex-general whose only experience has been in the Air Force for the last 20 plus years, even the best engineers in the world cannot save an asshole who does not know what he is doing. Further compounded by the fact he brought over 4 of his useless RSAF kakias to put into key positions and you have a recipe for disaster that the best engineers cannot solve. The PAP should answer why there are no experience CEO that could be hired from Hong KOng MTR, or Tokyo or NYC SUbway or London Underground to run SMRT.
