SINGAPORE - Besides getting commuters onto the train or the bus, Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew is also looking at improving their journey to the station, while arming passengers with more timely and accurate information to decide on their commute.

Mr Lui revealed in a media interview that the Land Transport Authority (LTA) is starting an internal trial this month to test out a commuter information system which would state "the condition of the bus" - whether the commuter can sit, can stand or must wait for the next bus. The trial is to last for three months.

Agree useless info for MRT arrival.
Since commuter are going to the MRT platform. They are preparing to wait few minute. What is different if the info show 2 min/5 min? Since the train going to arrived every few minute.
Wasting money. Better solve the train breakdown and peak hour pack.

Lui is certainly going to up COE and ERP rates to cover the cost of this silly exercise (spare change to help Phony Tan cover the UBS arsehole). If the public transport system is so good, why are the rich minions and lackeys not leading by example by commuting to their grand palaces via public transport?

Notice our roads getting bumpy nowadays? An ever present danger to the public. Those overloaded lorries start dropping logs and debris on the roads and people die! Hopefully the elite kids get killed. Traffic accidents respect no race or economic class.

Yes, what's the point of knowing the information of the bus. what we want is a transport that can take us from point A to point B. Telling us whether there are sitting space, standing space or lying space is meaningless.

To control traffic, reduce COE quota. My 5 year-old daughter also knows. We need someone who is competent of the job, not someone who is appointed.

What is the objective of public transport ..................Affordable, reach destination in a safe and timely manner in reasonable comfort.

What fucking good is it to know if one can sit, stand or wait for next bus if the main objetive s not met
