SINGAPORE: Mr Tan Kah Wan, who was a personal security officer for former Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, has died at the age of 81.

Mr Lee attended Mr Tan's wake at the latter's residence on Thursday evening.

The late Mr Tan, who died of pneumonia, was Mr Lee's personal security officer from 1965 to 1971.

In 1971, when Singapore hosted the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), Mr Tan was responsible for looking after the security of the heads of state visiting the Republic.

Mr Tan retired in 1981 as Assistant Commissioner of Police for Special Duties.

In 1972, Mr Tan was given the Public Administration Gold Award in recognition of his contributions in the Police service.

The old guards always help one another in times of trouble unlike the new generations, everyone was waiting for opportunity to stab behind you to climb the ladder

Loyalty? I think he had carry a lot of LKY stuffy baggages with him to his grave.
LKY is there to show his appreciation as an example to others.

It so happened that Tan Kah Wan recently visited Gecko's wake and Old Fart has to reciprocate, and not because he still remembers him.

1. He shows that he is alive kicking.

2. He tell him to recce the place first for him.
Advanced party; in other words.

Good one!
Sending his security officer to secure the place before his arrival.

attending wake is quite scary i think. many old uncles and aunties don't attend wakes anymore. all gone liao.

Maybe LKY had to be there just to confirm the death of a subordinate. Dead man tells no tales. Am sure LKY will attend wake of another security man (OSC) to double confirm latter's death in the event he doesn't go off first.

i gues harry have better medical care than his dogs.
