I've been wondering why he's still a MP for all these years. He did a good job for 30 years. He had to make some tough calls, some of which I don't agree with, in the early years. But, his time was up. He should have stepped down when GCT took over. He definitely should have when his son took over. What does it say about the PAP in general, and LHL in particular, if you need the old man physically and politically present in parliament all these years. OK, if you still needed him to hold your hands as a Minister Mentor and that legally required him to be a MP, so be it. But, he should have stepped down before the last GE. For God's sake, he was 87 then!! Absolutely no one in Singapore believes that LKY cannot have influence outside of parliament....

If bodyguards are paid by him personally its OK for they are just like private security guards.
But if the money is from tax-payers, then it MAY become a messy issue in the future.

they should be paid XXX amount of $$$ if not, they would be better off in private sector or in biz themselves.
By "default", since we do not have enough opposition to veto all these "claims", these leeches at the first split second
when they are elected or "elected" thru walkovers, commit FUNDAMENTAL BREACH of what they claim.
They hold tonnes of appointments, directorships and/or in biz themselves.
Having more than one appointment does not give one more than 24hrs per calendar day...
Question remains: WHO did they neglect?
Shareholders of public listed companies?
(Public) Stakeholders of GLC or statutory boards?

Attack the PAP system, not the infirmed person because he's still getting paid as MP.
Of course we can remember him for his contribution to what we have today, but can we not be petty?, when we struggle to put three square meals on the table not for ourselves but for our children, the fear of loosing that roof over our head, fear of getting sick & can not even afford the "affordable" health care & all these loosing our jobs to the deluge of FT's who swamp the island competing not for lower end jobs but putting an end to ours??
Of course, we can be petty!!..when one belly is empty, there is fire in the eyes, & begin to look at the privileges that are been accorded, can we not be jealous & that flame of jealousy will BURN like acid & slowly corrupt the mind within...
worse, we fear waking up one day to find that our CPF monies, from the $100,000+ set aside is now only $100..for there is no accountabilty & transparency to watch our monies anymore..for we can not even trust in good faith the people, handling our funds.
