SINGAPORE - A male car driver is assisting the police with investigations after an accident involving a car and motorcycle in MacPherson on June 22.
A video of the accident posted on Facebook group SG Road Vigilante showed a car making a discretionary right turn at the junction of MacPherson and Upper Aljunied roads.

As the car crosses the junction, a collision between the two vehicles occurs, with the motorcyclist and his pillion rider thrown over the car before landing on the road.

The police and Singapore Civil Defence Force said they were alerted to the accident around 3.10pm on June 22.

The 39-year-old motorcyclist and 19-year-old pillion rider were conscious when taken to the hospital, said police.

The 61-year-old male car driver is assisting with ongoing investigations, they added.

Motorcyclists and pillion riders accounted for half of all road fatalities, while elderly pedestrians made up nearly 20 per cent.

Although motorcycles make up less than 15 per cent of Singapore’s total vehicle population, motorcyclists and pillion riders were involved in more than half of all traffic accidents in 2023.
