More Singaporeans coming to Malaysia for medical services

MORE Singaporeans are coming to Malaysia for its affordable medical services, Nanyang Siang Pau and Sin Chew Daily reported.
Reports showed that there was a 60% increase of Singapore citizens and permanent residents coming to Malaysia for medical services last year compared with 2009.
The dailies reported that since March last year, Singaporeans could charge medical expenses to their medisave account (medical savings account system for Singaporeans) if they visit the 12 hospitals under Health Management International Ltd and Parkway Holdings.
> Nanyang Siang Pau and China Press reported that the Malaysia Hanfu Movement had created a record of sorts when 80 participants clad in traditional Han Chinese costumes attended a banquet in Serdang on Saturday.
Nanyang Siang Pau said that when the banquet started, the participants in their Hanfu (Han Dynasty costumes) prayed to their ancestors. They also sat at low tables on the floor.
Formed in 2007, the movement has been promoting Chinese culture and traditions.
> Those who plan to adopt babies have been advised to get to know the biological parents, Sin Chew Daily reported.
It quoted Singapore National Neuroscience Institute director Prof Lee Wei Ling as saying that there were risks in adoption that parents must be aware of.
She had encountered many cases where adopted children had various health issues.
