Mr Lee said Singapore is increasing social spending at a time when many other developed countries are cutting back due to chronic budget deficits, and stressed that it would be "easy for Singapore, a small country with no resources, to fall into the same problems".

"Strengthening safety nets is the right thing for us to do. But we have to proceed very, very carefully, because it's human nature to want more without wanting to pay more for it," he added.

Pinky is using the same scare rhetoric - "a small country with no resources". The $300 billion in reserves is a resource. Likewise the $210 billion in the CPF is a resource. Unless the PAP is admitting that those numbers it offers are fictitious.

Developed countries are cutting back but that's because they had so much out there. Social spending in sinkapore is negligible. And lots of the 'social' spending are mere accounting entries. Example: Raising the price of HDB flats and then throw in a 'subsidy' to lower the price ...but you still have to pay the most expensive price for social housing in the world. Likewise for healthcare.

The government give locals scholarship of $400 while foreigners studying here with scholarships get more than 10X that amount plus year free trip home.

So, let's stop the bs of the PAP government helping sinkees. Just stop creating the problems in the first place.
