The Thai Hot Guys have been the talk of the town since announcing the opening of their new restaurant, Mr Mookata Plus at Phoenix Park in Tanglin. The eatery is opened in collaboration with local barbecue restaurant chain Mr Mookata, and was meant to feature risqué, campy dance performances that mimicked those at popular Bangkok restaurant Staneemeehoi (which is co-owned by two of the main hunks, Dee and Wow).
But just one day before the eatery’s highly anticipated opening on 3 May, 8days.sg received news that the hunks were “rejected entry into Singapore”. In fact, this came mere hours before they were expected to perform at the restaurant for a media preview which we were about to attend.

What happened?
Though the Thai hunks were slated to perform from 3 to 5 May when the eatery opens officially, Mr Mookata Plus’ manager tells 8days.sg that there’ll be “no more Thai Hunks for the next three days”.Why were the four main hunks denied entry into Singapore? After all, they’ve performed in Singapore twice last year at Mr Mookata’s Bugis outlet without incident. The eatery’s distressed manager (who declined to be named) tells 8days.sg over the phone: “I don’t know the details. I’m in the same position [as everyone else], we just found out that they were rejected entry to Singapore”.
Could it be possible the guys were heading in with either tourist or social visit passes, since it wouldn’t make sense for them to be rejected if they had official work permits? 8days.sg posed this question to the Mookata Plus reps and are still awaiting their response.
Even more surprising: the six new Thai hunks (not the main four pictured) from Staneemeehoi who were supposed to be stationed in Singapore permanently are not yet in town. Though this turn of events just before opening day might’ve been avoided if the hunks had flown to Singapore earlier, Mr Mookata Plus’ manager says “they’re also busy, and [could only] come today”.

Denied entry at Changi airport
According to her, the main four hunks - Dee, Wow, Top and Per (pictured above) - arrived in Singapore this morning, but since they were denied entry at Changi airport, there was no point for the other six to fly in as well.“They landed in the morning, and we waited six to seven hours to get this info [about their denied entry],” she says apologetically, adding that “they’re on the flight back to Thailand now”.
While the hunks haven’t addressed this saga on their social media accounts yet, Wow had initially posted a photo captioned “SG calling” just ten hours ago, presumably while on a flight to Singapore.
Now, he has updated his IG with a pic saying “BKK calling. Bye SG”. Oof.

What’s going to happen to Mr Mookata Plus without the Thai Hunks?
And onto the main question on everyone’s minds: What’s going to happen to Mr Mookata Plus, marketed as a barbecue joint with gyrating Thai Hot Guys waitstaff? Will the Thai hunks ever be able to return to Singapore? The answer is inconclusive for now. Mr Mookata Plus’ manager vaguely tells 8days.sg: “This one is yet to be confirmed”.

We wonder if the SG hunks will be able to bring the same energy?
“Over 10 Singapore hunks” performing instead
For now, the BBQ joint has hired “over 10 Singaporean hunks” to perform. Just who are these supposed local hotties? Mookata’s manager tells us they were “recommended through a friend” and are “bulky and handsome”, like the Thai hunks. When we asked for their photos, she told us she didn’t have any.
However, she assures 8days.sg that they didn’t hire the SG hunks last minute - apparently, this was “planned previously”, and they “wanted to have both the local and Thai hunks interact today”.
Mr Mookata’s manager says the SG dudes will perform over the next three days, though whether they’ll dance as raunchily as the Thai hunks, and whether they’ll work here permanently are still up in the air
