This was confirm by Ong Pang Boon then organising treasurer as well as Toh Chin Chye who was then party chairman.
It seems strange that he cannot remember. Perhaps senility has totally crept in!
This reminds me of two similar incidents: When the Israel President Hertzog came to Singapore in the 80's much to the displeasure of our neighbours, Lee said he was not aware that he was coming.
Another, when Devan Nair was accused of misbehaving in Sarawak, Lee said he did not know that he was a habitual drinker.
