MM Lee Urges for Improvement in Health Care
Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew yesterday outlined that care policies in Singapore are somewhat dynamic and requires to follow the track of the best of international health systems and practices in a view to suit the country.
He emphasized on the collection of data, through review of work procedures, and application of research and new technologies in a bid to lower costs and boost performance.
"Improvements in health care come about not just because there are new drugs, new devices or new procedures", he outlined at the official opening of the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH). "They require health-care institutions and professionals to continuously innovate and enhance their delivery of health services".
In addition, Yew on Monday announced that the family of Tan Sri Khoo Teck Puat - banker, real estate magnate will extend a fund of over $50 million for the improvement in paediatric education, research and patient care at the National University of Singapore and National University Health System (NUHS).
Besides, the institute is reported to be renamed as Khoo Teck Puat-National University Children's Medical Institute in a view to respect and honor the assistance lent by Khoo family.
