How dare this retard Mr Cheong suggest that $1,200 can give you a happy life. I earn that amount in 1 day. Some dirty and smelly Banglas earn more than that in a month. It is clear that Mr Cheong is a sad and depressed quitter who has no earthly possesions worth mentioning. I will bet $1m that Mr Cheong the liar doesn't even have an IPhone:mad:

MM Goh should sue this retarded Canadian peasant to bankruptcy:oIo::oIo:

6th April 2011

OPEN LETTER TO SM GOH CHOK TONG

Dear SM Goh,

Todayonline, 5th April, 2011 reported that you ridiculed farmers
in less developed countries that they have no understanding
about quality of life. It is embarrassing that a senior statesman
like yourself has such a narrow vision of quality of life. What kind
of message do you intend to give to the younger generation? It
also insults people like us who depend on land and nature for
survival.

Your definition of quality of life seem to be amassing money to a
degree that exceeds sanity and morality. Please pause and think
that 99.9% of the population on earth does not have the privilege
like yourself to collect a salary of $3.8 million, plus your pension,
plus bonus payment, plus director’s fees, etc. Does it imply that
most of us lack any meaningful quality of life?

I live a simple and comfortable retired life with my wife for less
than S$1,200 a month* or what you made in less than an hour.
We built our own modest 1,500 sq feet house in Sechelt, Canada
for less than the price of a 4 room HDB flat. It has a view that
rivals the best in Singapore. I do fishing, crab trapping, picking
wild berries, attending to my fruit trees and some vegetables. We
do all our house chores like marketing, cooking, washing and
keeping the house clean and tidy without any maid or outside
help.

You may call it “low quality of life” but we enjoy ourselves
tremendously and found true happiness in what we do. There is
no shame in using our hands. In fact we are proud that, in our
mid sixties, we are able to live independently and survive happily
largely on nature. It may be something rich people like yourself
think otherwise.

To verify and lend creditability to my story, I challenge you to
send reporters and spend a week living in my house and write a
report of their stay. One of the reporters can be from Straits
Times and the other must be from a neutral news media.

I am willing to put S $10,000 in trust with a reputable law firm to
reimburse the two reporters for their cost of travel if they find
what I said not to be true. However, you should also put up
S$10,000 to reimburse those people you have insulted who live
on nature. I will donate this amount to a charity organization.
The S$10,000 is a huge amount for a retiree like me. On the
other hand, S$10,000 is definitely peanuts for you. You make
that in less time than going to the bathroom. Sir, please put
money where your mouth is and prove me wrong.

Looking forward to your early reply.

Yours Respectfully,
Cheong Wing Lee
Sechelt, B.C
Canada.

Some Sinkie losers will spend their whole life paying HDB loans and car loans

That's because they are aiming for something beyond their abilities and reach.

Serve them right!

Interesting & Unbelieveable! $100 a month for petrol? Petrol so cheap in Canada - and the country is so damn huge and desolate? I pump full-tank V-Power one time already close to $100.

And utilities only $40 a month! Really live on fresh air and water, and solar energy - some parts of BC can be so bloody cold! Really paradise! KNN my utilities already $500 a month! Wah, fishing in rivers also must pay license!

I want to migrate to British Columbia, Canada. Better than Iskandar many, many times.

Fuel prices in Canada is about C$1.20 (S$1.60) per litre. Assuming he drives a small Jap car, stays in small town and does not commute out-of-town much, 60l per month gives him 800km per month is quite possible. Singapore is clogged-up with traffic jam all the time hence the cars here drink petrol like mad, cannot compare with the low and smooth traffic in a small Canadian town. You choose to pump the most expensive fuel hence it is an illogical comparison.

Again, the nice and cool Canadian weather in a village consumes very little energy. No aircon needed for most of the year. Many families can do without heater as well. Even in Iskandar a typical family's water consumption is less than RM20 a month cos' it costs just RM0.60 per m3 for the first 20 litre. You have to pay a lot more for energy and water costs here because you need to cover the PAP scholars' astronomical salaries . You are out of touch with the energy costs in the rest of the world.

Indeed, you should consider migrating to British Columbia as these numbers are possible, although the writer appears to be on the frugal side.

Btw... what do you mean by the country is "desolate"?

Out of so many losers, some will pretend that they are doing very well, like telling forumers that they are better off than Bill Gate.
I can lie to alot of people, some can even lie to themselves; hahaha.

wah lan eh. canada so cheap already? too bad they don't welcome FT as much as they used to.

Canada is a place for Chinese migrants to retire

Can someone in Canada dare to say they are employed?

Want to be employed and paid high salaries.. Come to U.S.

Of course this is absolutely possible. How much u spend on petrol a month has nothing to do with how much the price of petrol is, nor how big the land area is. Only a PAP cocksucker like u will think that. How much u spend on Petrol is a function of how much u drive. If you live in a small town like Sechelt, everything is within walking distance. Or you take a bus, if its too far away.

Utilities of $40 a month is possible too. Usually, the water bill is paid for the whole year, and it may come with your property taxes, so, there is no monthly water bill in BC. Also, if you have a small house like he said (1700 sq ft), and if it was build recently with high efficiency furnaces, the gas usage will be low. Also, there is such a thing called a fireplace. U can collect drift wood in the beach, or other people might offer their wood for free when they trim or cut their trees, so using a woodplace will save on heating costs. I would say its not impossible.

Don't bother arguing with Myo, he is a PAP cocksucker. The writer of the article has not even mention the real cost savings of living in BC, which is free medical care including surgery, medication (if he is a senior), and all dr. visits and tests.
