Mini-bus driver jailed and banned for causing motorcyclist's death
A mini-bus driver who caused the death of a motorcyclist through his negligence was jailed for two weeks and banned from driving for four years on Monday.

SINGAPORE - A mini-bus driver who caused the death of a motorcyclist through his negligence was jailed for two weeks and banned from driving for four years on Monday (Nov 23).
Ang Thiam Poh, 65, admitted to causing the death of Mr Ramasamy Reddiar Kunnasegaran, 56, along Penjuru Road on Dec 21, 2014.
A court heard that Ang was on his way to a dormitory and drove past it.
He slowed the mini-bus down and tried to make an illegal U-turn along the single lane, two-way road without checking if there were vehicles behind him.
He thus drove into the path of Mr Ramasamy, whose motorcycle crashed into the mini-bus. The rider suffered serious injuries and died on the spot.
Ang was fined $150 for failing to obey the traffic markings at the scene indicating that vehicles on the lane could only proceed straight.
Ang could have been jailed for up to two years and fined for causing death by negligence.
The other offence is punishable with a fine of up to $1,000 or a jail term of up to three months.
