A recently retired ex-CDF is a candidate for GE. Likewise, a retired senior police officer.

Wonder why? If PAP loses GE, they will be called upon to lead the coup to overthrow the elected government. PAP and PA thugs will stir up trouble and the military will be 'forced' to step in to takeover. Then power will be given back to the PAP to run the show under the protection of the Generals and SPF.

The PAP plays dirty ...so a military coup is a real possibility. Didn't Lee CONs You said in the past?

You may dislike them and many here do but post responsibly otherwise no one is going to take you seriously. You have gone way overboard recently.

Oppositions lose badly! People revolt!

Then the tanks will roll in!

The ex-CDF is just that - an EX-CDF; he no longer has command. And if he loses, he won't even have authority to call on the troops.

And the soldiers they command are the people; not a professional force detached from the populace. The Gurkhas? On that, the PAPzis don't have the final say.

The question is whether enough Singaporeans are willing to say no to these people.

The Gurkhas are controlled by the Brits.

The reason for generals becoming candidates is not to have a coup if pappies lose. The arrogant and condescending pappies have never considered losing.

The first reason for generals becoming candidates is to keep the generals happy and hopeful so that there is a minimal chance of a coup ever happening. It doesn't hurt that military men are used to taking orders from their bosses including the natural aristocrats. The second reason is of course to continue justifying the existence of the first general to become a pappy candidate and ministar. ;)

This is an untested peoples' army against government.

PAP build SAF from civilian conscript NS. When come to civil unrest NSF wont bother SAF and form rebels to go against PAP.

You are putting the cart before the horse. The main battle is getting into the minds of 60.1% sinkies and waking them up. A tall order it is.

only die hard PAP supporters will take part. The opposition has NSmen who may launch a counter coup to ensure a new Singapore.

all the losing FAP leeders and their supporters can be thrown into ships and send to cuba where they can best match their expectation of one leeder, one party.
