i also wish for s'pore to stay on the bright route but we have to be practical on the hard facts that we are facing. comparing hk, she has china's backing and looking out for her. s'pore is a small country, on the other hand, is surrounded by muslim countries and we can only depend on ourselves when faced with adversity. even some westerners still regard s'pore as part of malaysia, we are too small to be of big impact to others.

i also noted that we are currently having less problems cos' our neighbourly muslim leaders are quite reasonable pple. if one day, one of these leaders got replaced by an extremist, we are finished.

JT, Ah Gong did something wonderful to transform this island into what it is today, of that I have no doubt. AFAI am concerned, we are doing well because of Ah Gong and not because of your fellow MIW. But how many Ah Gongs have you seen in your entire lifetime? I am only going to disagree with you on a minor note. Unfortunately, I feel you are right about most everything else you said, but Ah Gong's system was to raise a cadre of Mandarins to support him, not replace him. I don't see anybody within an astronomical unit of his ability. All the PSC and President's scholars are support for him and his chosen imperial descendants. The problem with this is that the next emperor is not him nor are any forseeable imperial descendants. So now all the people who were somewhat close to him in ability either aged out or sued to death. None of the meritocracy was designed to replace him as it was in Imperial China.

Other than certain work-related usage, Microsoft is quite irrelevant these days. You can easily go through a day without touching a single Microsoft product.

This “certain work related usage” happens to mean, the 2nd largest world market share in public cloud. Apart from that, I do not know of any company who is not using the Microsoft Office software. And yes, we still run on windows OS.
