Salary Revision for Home Team Officers
More than 18,000 Home Team officers will receive salary increases in August 2014. The revision will ensure that Home Team salaries remain competitive, keep pace with the market and are commensurate with the skills and demands required of Home Team officers.
Home Team officers work 24/7 at the frontline to keep Singapore safe and secure. MHA regularly reviews the terms and conditions of service to ensure that the Home Team continues to be able to attract and retain good and capable people, and offer them rewarding and fulfilling careers.
Uniformed Home Team officers from the Singapore Police Force, Singapore Civil Defence Force, Singapore Prison Service and Central Narcotics Bureau, will receive an increase of between 10 and 12 per cent in monthly pay, and officers from the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority will receive an increase of 7 per cent. Officers in the Home Team Specialist Scheme will receive an increase of 5 per cent. The pay increases take effect from August 1.
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) is stepping up recruitment to meet the growing demand for police officers. To attract more good quality candidates, SPF will introduce sign-on bonuses of $10,000 and $30,000 for new police officers who join them from August 1 at the ranks of Corporal and Sergeant respectively. Recruits who join the Singapore Civil Defence Force, Singapore Prison Service and Central Narcotics Bureau at the rank of Sergeant will receive a sign-on bonus of $10,000. Recruits who join the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority at the rank of Sergeant will receive a sign-on bonus of $8,000.
