MHA: SlutWalk will not need police permit

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Thursday morning gave Singapore's SlutWalk organisers the green light to proceed without a police permit for their event this Sunday.

This follows some difficulty that the organisers had with the Singapore Police Force (SPF), which initially informed them that they would need to apply for one, even though organisers of previous events of similar nature were not required to do so before.

Addressing queries from Yahoo! Singapore, a spokesperson from the ministry explained that police required the group to apply for a police permit initially because of "the possibility of foreigners participating in demonstrations", since they had said that foreign attendees would not be excluded.

"We have since received the organisers' appeal where they have explained that foreigners would only be present as bystanders and there will be no foreigners speaking or demonstrating at the event," the spokesperson continued. "On this basis, we have acceded to the appeal and have kept the organisers informed of the latest development," she added.

In response, SlutWalk organising committee member Cher Tan told Yahoo! Singapore that the organisers were "extremely pleased" with the MHA's decision.

The 24-year-old added that representatives from the MHA had also assured them of the SPF's agreement not to impose a requirement for a permit.

The SlutWalk Singapore organisers first faced friction with the SPF when they were informed on 8 November of the need to apply for a police permit before Sunday's event could proceed.

Seven women aged between 21 and 55 are behind the SlutWalk event in Singapore. They seek to raise awareness about sexual assault, victim-blaming and slut-shaming. With its beginnings in Toronto, Canada, SlutWalk has been held in numerous countries over this year, including Peru, South Africa, South Korea, India and Indonesia.

Explaining the situation, Tan, who is among the seven, said that the group had been given approval by NParks in August to hold their event at Hong Lim Park and under the terms and conditions, they need not apply for a police permit.

On 8 November, however, the organisers were told by the Singapore Police Force (SPF) that they needed a separate permit. Unaware of the exemption clause, one of the group's members then went ahead to apply for the permit.

When organisers sought clarification from the SPF, the SPF said that the presence of foreigners would require a police permit, according to Tan, who showed the correspondence between SPF and the organisers.

Organisers then reiterated in their response that their version of SlutWalk will not be conducted as a protest or demonstration.

Sunday’s event will be “carnival-style” with performances, speeches and informational booths, without protests or formations, unlike those done in events such as Pink Dot, explained Tan.

“How do you define ‘participation’ (by foreigners in the event) in this respect? The definition of the term in the Public Order Act doesn’t refer to (them) being bystanders,” she argued, adding that organisers were puzzled over the need for a permit.

When the event draws closer, Tan said organisers will remind participants that SlutWalk Singapore is meant to be a gathering and not a protest or demonstration.

“We have already in all our publicity materials stated very clearly that it’s a gathering, so I believe the attendees will adhere,” she said.

It sickens me beyond the garish colors and wildly blinking tags of text. Nay, that’s merely a sickness of stomach. MySpace, however, sickens me straight to the core of my morality.

This is my point today: when left to their own devices, men construct things out of other things. We build friendships out of people; we make wheels from slabs of rock; we make one long straw out of several other straws. Women, on the other hand, get their whore on.

Go browse through the MySpace listings for a while. Especially if you have a daughter. Then you’ll definitely want to go punch a few little bastards’ names into their search engine-ing box.

I culled a few of the profile headlines in a span of about three minutes to demonstrate my point (maximizing for whore factor), but I’m opting not to print them here as the content made even me sick. And the girls look to be under 18.

Despicable.

There’s a classic story about a man who turns himself invisible somehow. He was a scientist. I don’t remember who wrote it because that’s not what’s important about books. What’s important is the message. Learning and memorizing the names of authors and syllabi and whatnots is the stuff for feminist studies classes.

The Invisible Man (as I will call him) embarked on a series of nefarious acts with his new-found invisibility. Things like stealing money and killing people. It’s an exciting tale about the heart of man and the effect of “invisibility” on the psyche.

And that’s exactly my fucking point.

When invisible — when completely anonymous, men seek personal gain. Unsurprisingly, that avarice happens to be the very fucking engine of the free market economy. Perhaps you’ve heard of the free market economy. It did build the whole of Earth and everything awesome upon it. Take an introductory economics class if you don’t agree with me, but first go and fuck yourself.

Men also seek to gratify their deepest inner desires. How is that bad?

It’s isn’t because it’s something men do. Take any charity for example. It’s just something some man gave of himself because he wanted to do it — he wanted to feel good about it. That’s completely selfish. It was a desire of his that he fulfilled. Filling desires, even when invisible, is not a bad thing.

Women, however, when lounging behind their little veil of privacy called the internet, just try to look as easy as possible. And by easy, I mean easy to fuck.

It’s as simple as this: men are built for progress in their cores; women are built for sex. If you have a problem with that, take it to MySpace

Every Woman is a Cheating Whore
Oh yes, that’s right. That’s what I said. And I said it because it’s true. All women are cheaters.

I don’t mean this to be a provocateur or to prance around in the realm of the hypothetical like some kind of dandy. I mean, flat out, that every woman in the world is a cheater, has cheated, and is probably cheating at this very moment.

Getting a woman to cheat on her husband or significant other is not like getting a woman to go to the gym — by heaping shitloads of gifts and attention on her like a spoilt child and then ultimately getting no burn for your earn. Getting a woman to cheat is like getting a duck to eat bread crumbs or a rat to eat rubbish. All you have to do is toss it in front of their face.

It’s not a hard conclusion to draw, so let’s just look at the facts. Getting attention from men is a woman’s lifeblood. That’s why women worship men in the form of menial tasks that they’re not very good at — because men control our attention like the gods of old controlled the sun and the crypt. We giveth and we can taketh away.

Good attention, bad attention, the worst kind of attention; it doesn’t matter. To a woman, being in a Girls Gone Wild video is just as laudable as serving in a highly respected public office. They stack up eyeballs like empty pie plates at a NOW convention.

So let’s compare: a woman’s lust for attention versus a man’s desire to consume or waste things — something very manly indeed. Take throwing a sandwich in the street for example. Do you know what’s better than throwing a sandwich in the street? That’s right, throwing two sandwiches in the street. Now what if that sandwich cost twice as much as the first? What if you had to wait in line again to get it? I would probably still do it and I’m betting that most men would. But what if dealing with two sandwiches cost you your dignity, your job, and your soul?

Women, of course, have none of those things — or at least don’t have 2 out of 3. That’s why when we change ‘sandwiches’ to ‘men’ and ‘throwing them in the street’ to ‘getting any kind of attention from them’, we can easily draw the conclusion that women would do anything, and would stop at the destruction of nothing, for more of it.

Not even guilt will stop women from being the cheating harlots that they are. That’s because women think that cheating requires some kind of expressed willingness or premeditation on their part to actually count. I shit you not, that is exactly what they say. To a woman true cheating requires a planning and malice on par with a bank robbery. If the only evidence of infidelity you can produce is that she got drunk and put herself in a compromising position, you’re up argument creek without a chance in hell.

Can you believe that? It means if a woman can somehow convince a co-worker to force himself on her, or to “rape” her, that doesn’t count as cheating. It’s just another horrible thing that’s happened to poor defenseless her in this dog eat dog, man-world of rape happy abusers. That’s obviously a bunch of bullshit, but stand back because it gets worse.

Women also don’t count miring themselves in twisted, Dynasty-styled emotional affairs as cheating. For instance, a woman may hang around with as many as five or six of her ex-boyfriends without batting an eye. She may accept niceties from male co-workers or university staff members without ever questioning the motive of a free backrub. That’s a perfectly reasonable thing to be handing out, isn’t it? A free backrub? They’re like porno pamphlets in Vegas. Sometimes I can’t even get to work without getting two or three.

Bullshit.

Like any virus, women are not content with ruining their own lives. Ultimately, they seek out the lives of decent, honest men and tempt and corrupt them until they appear to be cheaters as well when nothing could be further from the truth. Cheating is like getting pregnant. It’s 100% a woman’s fault 100% of the time.
