Yesterday, UniSIM announced that Prof Cham had retired with effect from Friday as its chancellor and chairman. Former Public Transport Council (PTC) chairman Gerard Ee, who previously headed the SIM governing council, has taken over the positions.

Uni SIM is a crappy university anyway. It was hastily set up to cash in on the lucrative tertiary education sector, and enrols plenty of foreigners.

In the PAP regime, your life is made if one of your family members has close ties to the establishment. In Gerard Ee's case, it was due to his father Ee Peng Liang. There are many other examples: Wong Kan Seng, Grace Fu, Tin Pei Ling etc. You get the point.

He gets bounced from one group to another: Automobile Association, National Council of Social Service, NKF, Public Transport Council etc. People like him never go out of a job, nor do they dread that it'll ever happen.

In Singapore, meritocracy only happens in the figment of your imagination.
