A MEDICAL officer was charged in court on Tuesday with molesting a woman at Changi General Hospital on New Year's Day.
No plea was taken from Thiyagarajan Mathimaran, 33, an Indian national.
He was attached to the hospital at Simei Street 3 when he allegedly molested a 42-year-old woman at a staff toilet on Jan 1 2011.
His lawyer K R Manicka sought a month's adjournment to make representations. The case is up for mention on Aug 18.
Anyone convicted of molestation faces a jail term of up to two years, or fine or caning, or with any combination of such punishments.

A medical doctor accused of molesting a female staff at Changi General Hospital was cleared on Wednesday after he had compounded the offence.
Dr Thiyagarajan Mathimaran, 33, has paid $5,000 to the 42-year-old woman whom he allegedly molested in a staff toilet at the hospital on Simei Street 3 on Jan 1, 2011.
The woman was present in court.
The Indian national, represented by Mr K. R. Manicka, was attached to the urology department of the hospital at the time.
