Diabetes type 2: Fasting could increase your risk of developing the condition

DIABETES type 2 risk may be increased by not eating, also known as fasting. Sometimes, people try not eating or fasting diets to lose weight, but these also make your body less able to control blood sugar levels, according to a diabetes medical expert.

The past 50 years, nutrition science has been based on nothing but bad statistics. Different groups will find the results that they wish to find. Just a matter of biased sampling, manipulation of ANOVA and regression tables, and bad inferencing in general.

Is that why a disproportionate number of moslems suffer from diabetes? Everyone knows that during their so-called fasting month, they gorge themselves and indulge in gluttony before and after the daily fast.

Muslim Ramadan 'fasting' is more or less 'intermittent binge eating'. Also, it lasts about 12 hours, the full benefits of fasting can only be obtained if you fast for 48 or 72 hours continuously.

Manipulative statistical interpretation applies to every industry, particularly those corrupted by greed.

But in this particular case, the underlying medical & biochemical rationale is sound. Which is why notice I specified "if done wrongly". Because fasting if done correctly, is beneficial to health. When done wrongly, causes diabetes and many other health problems.

Of course, diabetes (all types) are multi-factorial. Just because fasting (when done wrongly) causes diabetes, it doesn't mean all diabetes is caused by fasting, or that (all types of) fasting is unhealthy.

Everything in moderation. Don't fast until starving want to die, as well as don't over eat until want to explode.

Lee Kuan Yew himself always believed his secret of good health & longevity (even if he didn't have Mahathir's ridiculously blessed aging genes, and also completely lost the will to live after Kwa Geok Choo died), is that for every single meal, he exercised self-discipline to only eat until he was 80% satisfied, never 100% full, let alone 120% binged like most Singaporeans.

You'll have to fast for 30-40 days before you starve to death.

A few days of fasting won't hurt. In fact, it helps your body to heal and your intestines to take a break.

If I don't eat for one day, I will surely die.:frown: Please don't argue with me, I know me well. My intestines can take a break for a few days after I die, before they bbq me to dust.

Most moslems I know are obese or suffer from diabetes. Only a few are fit, especially those who gym or ignore the silly fasting rules. But those are in the minority of a minority.

Malays gorge themselves with sugary drinks when they break their fast. And too much rice until bloated.
The fasting ritual could be misintepreted for self discipline or urge control. That why its followed by wife verse after the so called " fast verse".

Malays and indians eat a enormous amount of rice. One plate heaped with rice and sometimes they have seconds.and down with syrup or sweet drinks.

A lot of fear spread by pharm companies...diabetes (t2) in layman term means your pancreas dont produce enough insulin to break down sugar...2 mainstream options...take insulin or take less sugar..non mainstream option lose a lot of weight to shock the body thinking it is dying to restart the whole system

Another thing to thank the good book for.
