MDA cowed down due to pressure: Definition of website

If this licensing thing is allowed to stay, who knows what else will come next? Do we want that to happen?

In my opinion, you sound far too rebellious for your own good. Attitudes such as yours need to be nipped in the bud before they are allowed to spread and cause unrest and turmoil to the detriment of society at large.

It is because of people like you that controls need to be in place so that Singaporeans aren't exposed to half truths and lies which could add fuel to the fire.

My advice to you is learn the rules and follow them. Work hard and mix with the right people and your life will be smooth sailing. If you insist on rocking the boat, you'll have to face the consequences.

Re: Yaacob: We will only target websites which get their FACTS wrong

Let's see the kind of FACT that Yaacob is referring to: if a person is within the polling station, he is not considered to be within 200m radius of the polling station.

bro,
who on earth gives such convoluted statement? "if within the area A, then != within 200m radius of area A" ??? fucking disgrace!!!

Rebellious? How did you come to that term to tag onto me? Just because I don't agree with what a govt agency is doing? That makes me rebellious?

Just because I feel that, not only my right as an individual, but the rights of others too, are being compromised by something that is clearly out to clamp down on people who are against bad policies, and also on possible whistle-blowing???

What half-truths had I posted?

What rules are you referring to? I feel I had done no wrong, for I have committed no crime by posting what I feel is a bad idea on the part of MDA.. no.. a ridiculous idea.. and a foolish action to try to "control and contain".

Is there a law that says I can't post such stuff? I didn't offend anyone, nor did I post anything against any religion or any race or gender here.. so what rules are you referring to? Oh.. it's your forum.. so.. you mean your rules??

If that is what you mean.. then just ban me already. I can move on to other forums.

The one thing about the internet is.. THERE ARE NO RULES.. there is a socially acceptable behaviour.. and even etiquette that is upheld by most online users.. but if you think there is a ONE certain rule.. then I would say, the rule is. "whatever you post, it's going to be on the internet.. forever.. so think carefully before you post anything on it." Hmm.. that was a statement.. maybe this is a rule, "don't post something if you don't want it to be remembered for eternity"

Boss sam.. I am no rebel. Just one of the voices among the ppl who feel that the govt has been trying to "slap us around" and treat us like "fools and idiots". I am frustrated.. shocked.. and very unerved by the way MDA (govt) has come up with this.. and I want to let ppl know how I feel.. if that is rebellious.. then.. I would be one of many rebels that are already online posting as you read this.

You're living in an Asian society not some white trash libertarian country where drugs and public sex is considered acceptable.

In an Asian society, you are taught respect for your elders and for those in positions of authority.

When you're young, you have to listen to your parents and they decide what is good for you.

When you go to school, you have to listen to your teachers and obey them.

When you're an adult member of society, you now have to obey your leaders and accept their superior wisdom. That is the purpose of leadership.

However, if you think that your leaders are lacking in any manner or form, you are perfectly entitled to follow due process in order to become a leader yourself. You can then make decisions for others.

Democracy does not mean that you can do what you like. It simply means that leadership is decided by an electoral process where all citizens have a vote.

We’re living in a Global village not some ancient Asiatic dynastic empire where kowtowing before the Emperor is expected.

In this brave new world, knowledge and creativity is just as important as respect for others.

When you’re young, your natural enthusiasm and spontaneity should not be stifled.

When you go to school, you are not expected to take what your teachers tell you as the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

When you’re an adult, you have the right to question and criticise your leaders and those leaders must accept that you have that right.

Elections are held every five years, and in the interim you have and must exericse your right to criticise, scrutinise and otherwise hold the duly elected Government to account for promises made in the run up to the last Election Day.

Democracy means power is derived from the people and those in power are ultimately accountable to the people. This applies on Election Day as well as in the interim period. In other words, it applies EVERY DAY.

There are very few rules in this forum. You can say whatever you want here. That's what I created this forum for.

However, in real life, you need to conform to the norms set by your rulers and that means that you have to follow their policies and advice.

If they say "trust me to do a good job running the country", you have to trust them and not to try cause trouble.

You need to learn to be a good citizen.

You have no right to question your leaders for the simple reason that they are smarter, wiser and more experienced and know what is good for the country.

I don't question my superiors. I honor and obey them on a daily basis. You should do the same.

If policies are sound and benefit all, I have no issues. And.. to say I have rulers over me.. is saying that there is no democracy.. is that your point?

I'm not apologetic that I don't follow blindly.. for I don't want to allow idiots to lead my life.. and allow misery and frustration to enter into my present or my future.

I am no rebel.. but I am, like every one in the world, special and different. If the world is full of similar people, it would be too easy.. and too boring.

What makes life so interesting.. and so irritating at the same time, is because we are all different.. and special in our very own way.

Just like you and me, boss sam.
