Such accidents involving foreign drivers and such jams will become an everyday event when there are 6.9m people in Singapore.

with so much overpopulation, sooner or later something's gotta give....

1. honest, even without the accident.
2. sheepishland road systems cannot handle the traffic volume for 7 mil.
3. hope that kopi and the resident bitch/cunt were struck in the kje jam.
4. then they will know what it will be like:D

A COLLISION between two private buses caused a three-hour jam on the Kranji Expressway early Friday morning.
Witnesses say the jam started at around 6am, and traffic is still not back to normal at 9.30am.
Preliminary checks with the Traffic Police and Land Transport Authority reveal that the entire expressway was closed between 6am and 8am because there were a number of people who were injured, some seriously.
The accident took place even as calls for sterner enforcement action on heavy vehicles which flout traffic safety rules. Several ministers have weighed in on the issue, sparked by a horrific accident in Tampines on Monday, when two young brothers were mowed down by a cement truck as they crossed a traffic junction on their bicycle.

To PAP IB:- This is a suggestion for LTA to spend more money.

Please get LTA to form a team to specifically clear traffic jams especially peak hours. These guys should be empowered to re-direct and close of roads if necessary. They will also be given authority over TP to assist them for this purpose. Jokes aside, drivers in Singapore when faced with a traffic jam will still insist on joining in the jam (herd mentality?) I don't understand why they can't find an alternative way to their destination. We can blame bad road designs, Expressway info services etc but drivers also need to learn (or be forced) to take another route.

I'm not talking about re-directing or closing roads near the accident sites (too near, no impact). Roads further away that joins up to the expressway should be closed off as well.

Not far from truth. When you get the news alert on the radio, or see overhead signs -often you are already sucked in (too late!).

Traffics always been bad in that area. Now that they have decided to let in more people, they are building some new roads.

They've already notified land owners in Bishan, Marymount Convent, Lee Ah Mooi old folks home, etc that they are going to take their land for some kind of road extension program.

However since the traffic is already so bad & they plan to let in more people, it will still be bad even if they build more roads:D

Could be because there are few "alternative" routes & everyone is trying to get to work at the same time. The PAP has relied on the ERP system to control car flow & NOT spend $$$ to expand the road network.

Land is a precious commodity & the PAP is all about maximising profits by selling it for housing.
