5.3 magnitude quake jolts West Sumatra

A 5.3-magnitude earthquake jolted West Sumatra on Sunday, sending panicked residents including those in the neigboring province of Bengkulu to flee homes.

The earthquake, which hit at 5.33 a.m., was centered 68 kilometers Southeast of Sipura Mentawai at a depth of 23 kilometers.

The quake did not cause tsunami.

Subagio, a resident of Muko Muko regency, Bengkulu, admitted people left home immediately when they felt the tremor.

"We are still traumatized by the 7.9 earthquake in 2007" he said as quoted by Antara news agency.

2.1 magnitude quake rumbles through Sonoma County

The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 2.1 struck this morning in Sonoma County.

According to the USGS, the earthquake struck at around 5 a.m. and had a depth of 0 miles.

The quake was centered one mile south-southwest of Anderson Springs and 21 miles north of Santa Rosa, according to the USGS.

新华网马普托4月3日电(记者 刘大龙)据莫桑比克通讯社3日报道,莫桑比克北部楠普拉省的安戈谢县2日下午发生地震,造成部分建筑受损,59人受伤,但地震的震级和震中目前尚不清楚。

报道说,这次地震发生在当地时间14时01分,地震持续了30秒。地震发生时,建筑物明显晃动,大部分居民感到恐慌并纷纷逃离建筑,到室外比较空旷的地方躲避。当地政府证实,到目前为止尚未收到有关人员死亡的报告
