Man who took upskirt videos of multiple women charged

SINGAPORE: A 54-year-old man has been charged with 243 counts of intending to insult the modesty of multiple women by taking upskirt videos of them.

Lim Kwang Yeow is accused of taking the videos with the camera on his mobile phone between April and October 2011.

The alleged offences are said to have taken place at locations including an escalator at 313@Somerset shopping centre, inside Tampines MRT station and in a MRT train.

The prosecution is proceeding on six of the charges.

If convicted, Lim faces the maximum penalty of a year in jail and a fine, on each count. - CNA/xq

SINGAPORE: A former logistics officer at Centrepoint Shopping Centre was on Wednesday sentenced to nine months' jail for taking upskirt videos of women.

In August, 54-year-old Lim Kwang Yeow admitted to 243 counts of intending to insult the modesty of women.

He had filmed the upskirt videos with his camera phone between April and October 2011, in places including 313@Somerset Shopping Centre and Tampines MRT station.

Prosecution proceeded on six of the charges.

During the sentencing, District Judge Christopher Goh said the average jail term is about three months for each charge, in general.

He added that women should have the right to walk about with their modesty intact. - CNA/nd
