A conman skipped bail on Monday before he could be sentenced in a district court.
Kumar Rajamanickam, 42, was facing 45 charges of cheating after he swindled a woman of close to $20,000. Half of the amount was from her gold jewellery.
Claiming he was a holy man, he convinced his victim to hand over her jewellery for "cleansing" as it had "evil spirits".
Close to an hour after he was due to appear in court, Kumar was still not there. Deputy Public Prosecutor Houston Johannus then applied for a warrant of arrest, which was granted by the judge.
