SINGAPORE — A 25-year-old man will be charged in court on Friday (May 27) with rash act for allegedly throwing items — including a wooden shoe rack as well as kick scooters — from one of the levels of a residential block in Jurong West earlier this month.

In a media release on Wednesday, the police said they had received a report on May 8 of the incident along Jurong West Street 91 at about 11pm.

Officers from the Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man with the aid of police cameras and arrested him on the same day.

Initial investigations by the authorities found that the man had allegedly thrown a wooden shoe rack, a red basket filled with shoes as well as two kick scooters down from one of the levels of the residential block.

The police did not state which floor the items were thrown from.

If convicted of the offence of rash act, the man can be jailed a maximum of six months, fined up to S$2,500, or both.

“The police have zero tolerance against acts that endanger the lives or safety of others, and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law,” said the police.
