AN ODD-JOB worker who tried to enter Marina Bay Sands casino with a Chinese national's work pass was jailed for a day and fined $5,000 on Monday.

See Peng Hai, 46, who is an undischarged bankrupt, had admitted attempting to deceive the security officer at the casino by posing as Sun Zhong Wei to enter the casino without paying the $100 entry levy for Singaporeans and permanent residents on May 11.

The security officer noticed that See did not look like person on the work permit card.

While verifying his particulars, the officer noticed his pink identity card in his wallet. See was detained.

A second charge of fraudulent possession of Mr Sun's work permit was taken into consideration.

See could have been jailed for up to 2 1/2 years and/or fined for cheating by personation.
