SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 31-year-old Chinese man believed to be involved in a case of armed robbery at a convenience store located along Chai Chee Road.
The suspect had entered the store on the evening of Nov 25 pretending to buy newspapers.
He then whipped out a knife and ordered the store attendant to open the cash register, before escaping with about $400 in cash.
Officers were notified and managed to establish his identity before arresting him the next evening at Chai Chee Road.
The suspect will be charged in court on Nov 28 for armed robbery. If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to 14 years and not less than 12 strokes of the cane.
