SINGAPORE - A cleaner was today jailed two years for performing oral sex on the 13-year-old son of a friend.
The 47-year-old man, who was found guilty of one count of underage sex, is of borderline intelligence, according to a psychiatric report.
Two counts under the Children and Young Persons Act were also taken into consideration.
The court heard that the man got to know the boy through the boy's father.
Both the man and the boy would then visit each other during festive periods and would often have meals together.
In 2008, both of them were at the boy's home where the man asked the boy to massage him. He then led the boy to the bedroom and asked him to strip.
He performed oral sex on the boy, without the boy's consent.
The man then gave the boy S$2 before leaving the house.
The incident came to light when the boy's father later questioned his son who confessed.
In mitigation, the man's lawyer said his client was remorseful and "realised his mistakes".
For underage sex, the man could have been jailed up to 20 years and fined or caned. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
