SINGAPORE: A man pleaded guilty on Thursday morning to two charges of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.

A district court heard that Muhammad Saifulddin Abu Samad, 18, got to know the minor through the social networking website, Friendster, in August 2009.

He wooed the girl over SMS and got her to be his girlfriend. She cannot be named because of a court order.

Before they even met, Muhammad Saifulddin asked the victim to have sex with him but she refused.

One month later, the then-ITE student arranged to meet the victim near her home.

The pair went to a staircase landing and started kissing and petting.

The following month, they again went to a staircase landing at her block where he asked her to perform fellatio on him.

When she refused, he raised his voice and got her to perform oral sex on him.

A district court has ordered for probation and reformative training reports on him as he was only seventeen when he committed the offences.

He will be sentenced next month. - CNA/vm

17-year-old befriended primary school pupil online, asked for sex within a month

A 17-YEAR-OLD student first got to know a primary school pupil through online networking website Friendster and decided to befriend her. But within a month of their online encounter in August last year, Muhammad Saifulddin Abu Samad, a student at Institute of Technical Education (ITE) Bishan at the time, asked her for sex. When they met for the second time in late September, Muhammad Saifulddin groped her.

He would go on to get her to perform oral sex on him the following month. On Thursday, a district court adjourned sentencing for Muhammad Saifulddin, pending more information on his suitability for probation and reformative training. If he is found suitable for such a regime, Muhammad Saifulddin may be sent to a reformative training centre where he would be confined for at least 18 months.
