Man nabbed following bomb hoax

Taipei, July 27 (CNA) A man who claimed to have explosives in his luggage was arrested by police at Taoyuan International Airport Sunday.
The man, with the family name of Shih, reported to the CAL counter at Taoyuan Airport Sunday morning, seeking to travel to Hanoi, Vietnam aboard the carrier's flight CI791.
While checking in his luggage, a ground crew member asked Shih if it contained any contraband. "Yes, explosives." the man reportedly said.
The crew then called police, who took the man away for questioning. It has been reported that Shih said his comments were a joke and he had earlier been drinking alcohol.
The police did not find explosives in his luggage, though he was delivered to the Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office for further investigation.
Participating in a bomb hoax is a crime punishable by a jail term up to three years or a fine that does not exceed NT$1 million (US$33,340).
