Man kills two-week old son, stabs wife in jealous rage

KOTA KINABALU: An Indonesian estate labourer killed his two-week old infant son and seriously injured his wife and three other children in a fit of rage after accusing his spouse of having an affair.

Beluran police chief Deputy Supt Sivananthan Velautham said the man’s 35-year-old wife and three surviving children aged between two and seven years were in serious condition in the hospital.

He said the 34-year-old labourer confronted his wife at a workers’ quarters at the plantation where they were working at about 10pm on Monday.

Sivananthan said amid the heated argument, the man grabbed a pair of scissors and stabbed his wife in the head several times.

The man then grabbed an iron bar used for the harvesting of oil palm fruits and began beating his wife and four children with it killing the infant on the spot.

Upon being alerted of the incident, a team of police from Beluran rushed to the plantation and arrested the man at about 3am on Tuesday.
