Man jailed for slapping 6-year-old boy who caused his daughter to fall at Westgate Mall

Unhappy with a 6-year-old boy who had kicked a styrofoam wall at a mall, causing his daughter to fall, a man slapped the boy’s face and bruised it. The 39-year-old Singaporean was sentenced to three weeks’ jail on 9 Oct 2025.

That father got what he deserved since he forcefully slapped the 6-year-old boy's right cheek which caused a bruise. There were around 25 other adults and children present, and fortunately, 1 of them told the mother’s friend that the offender had assaulted the boy. He is a 39-year-old adult male who bullied a child, so there is absolutely no excuse. Our children need to be protected from such louts!

Even though the mother made her 6-year-old son apologise to the offender, he told the mom off for not keeping an eye on the boy, without informing her that he had assaulted her son earlier. The man deservedly has a criminal record now, and hopefully, also lost his job after this conviction.

I think on the surface the sentence seems excessive as it is not totally 'unprovoked'. But there could be more than meets the eye. Need to find out more about the man's name and background before we jump to any conclusions. Too bad his name cannot be revealed.

If this 39-year-old bully is not taught a lesson now, his slap could turn into a punch followed by a kick in future every time another child so much as brushes against his precious "princess" at the playground. He should have brought the boy to his mother to inform her about his bad behaviour. I guess it is too late for him now; he probably lost his job and finding another one won't be easy with a criminal record.

A slap on another person is considered assault since it is physical contact which is harmful. Legally, the physical act of hitting another person is battery, while slapping someone else is physical abuse i.e. voluntarily causing hurt.

That bastard was rightly convicted and jailed. What kind of man is "brave" enough to beat a 6-year-old boy in the absence of his parents, but so cowardly that he didn't dare admit to the mother that he had in fact assaulted her son? He even dared to berate the mother, who rightly, did not allow the slap to go unpunished. Justice has been served.
