Three men broke into a container on a ship at Jurong Port and stole 1 million Fiji dollars (S$709,000).

The stolen money, all in $20 denomination, was part of a shipment of 202 million Fiji dollars newly printed notes en route to Fiji.

The loot was handed to a fourth man who approached Sanjay Krishnan to help convert 540,000 Fiji dollars into Singapore dollars.

On Wednesday, the 30-year-old video editor was jailed a year. He had pleaded guilty in March to possessing, transferring and converting stolen property.

Court documents indicate that the three workers stole the cash on Aug 19, 2010 from a ship en route from London to Suva, the capital of Fiji.

Three men broke into a container on a ship docked at Jurong Port in 2010 and stole one million Fiji dollars (S$713,000).

The three men worked in the port. The loot was handed to a fourth man who approached video editor Sanjay Krishnan to enlist his help in converting 540,000 Fiji dollars into Singapore dollars.

He did that and, on Wednesday, the 30-year-old was jailed for a year. He pleaded guilty last month to possessing, transferring and converting stolen property.
