An odd-job labourer was jailed a total of 18 months on Tuesday for having sex with a minor and stealing from his grandmother.
Muhammad Rahmat Sali had pleaded guilty to having sex with the 11-year-old girl at his Boon Lay Drive home on March 19, 2009. He was then 19.
The 22-year-old had also admitted to stealing cash, a gold ring and a gold bangle totalling $2,150 from his grandmother, Madam Jamiah Rabon, 72, at her Choa Chu Kang flat between Nov 24 and 26, 2008.
The court heard that the victim was in a shop at Jurong West Street 41 on March 17, 2009 when she gave her telephone number to a girl, who said she was asking on behalf of someone.
