Man in coma after using fake iPhone charger

A man from Jilin in northeast China has been in a coma for more than 40 days after receiving an electric shock when he tried to charge his iPhone 4 with a non-official charger.
Wu Jiantong, 30, is a taxi driver originally from Changchun, the capital of Jilin Province. On July 6, he left home for Beijing to visit his parents.
In the evening of July 8, Wu got an electric shock and collapsed as he trying to charge his iPhone 4 at his parents' house. His body started to convulse, his face and lips turned pale, and he started foaming at the mouth.
Wu's family called an ambulance immediately and sent him to the nearest hospital. A first aider said that Wu had lost his heartbeat and stopped breathing by the time they arrived, but 10 minutes later, they got his heart going again.

On July 15, Wu began to breathe on his own, but was remained in a coma.
Wu is currently at a hospital in his hometown, and has been in a coma for more than 40 days.
According to his doctor, some of his brain cells have died from lack of oxygen due to the electric shock. If he does not wake for six months, he may be severely disabled for the rest of his life.
Experts believe that non-official battery chargers can be dangerous, as if they are faulty, they can sometimes pass 220v of power straight to the user's cell phone without reducing the voltage.
