A TECHNICIAN was fined $7,000 on Tuesday for attacking his former wife's alleged lover with a chopper. Ker Ah Tee, 45, was convicted after a nine-day trial of causing hurt to Mr Mohd Rizal Abdullah, 54, near the void deck of Block 63 Pasir Ris Drive 1 at about 12.20am on June 21 last year. Mr Rizal, an operations manager, suffered a 5cm-long superficial cut on the left scalp. Dubbed the David versus Goliath trial by The New Paper, the 1.6m-tall Ker was angry when he saw his ex-wife coming home with Mr Rizal, who is 1.7m tall. Ker, a father of three, was also injured during the fight with Mr Rizal who used a wooden plank to hit him. The plank broke into three pieces, the court heard. Ker, defended by Ms Diana Foo, will serve a default sentence of seven weeks if he cannot pay the fine. He could have been jailed for up to seven years or fined or caned or received any of the combined sentences.
