Man asks mother to sit in trunk to make room for son

People's Daily, September 25, 2015

Man asks mother to sit in trunk to make place for his son

The police officers from Anlu Police Station were searching robbery vehicles on the morning on 18 when they stopped a SUV for routine inspection. When they opened the trunk of the SUV, a scene shocked them totally: an old lady was sitting inside the narrow trunk.

The police separated the people in the car for questioning. The result of the investigation turned unexpected: the couple and a 4-year-old boy inside the SUV are the old lady's son, daughter-in-law and grandson. The old lady surnamed Liu used her saving to buy a SUV for his son. The family drove the new car from home to Wuhan for travel. Liu at first stayed in the car to take care of the grandson. But later, the child was asleep and complained that the car was too crowded for him to lie down. So Liu's son asked his mother to sit in the trunk to make space for his child so that he would have a good sleep.

Worrying that the police would punish her son, Liu kept saying: "I was good in the trunk. Please don't punish my son."
