SINGAPORE - A 28-year-old man has been arrested by police yesterday for allegedly molesting a young woman.
On March 20, the 23-year-old victim reported she was molested by an unknown man outside a lift of a HDB block along Choa Chu Kang Street 52. Investigation against the suspect is still ongoing.
If convicted, the offender may be sentenced to a jail term of up to two years, or a fine, and may also be liable for caning.
Commander of Jurong Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police Wilson Lim advised the public to be alert and aware of the surroundings. If strangers dash into the lift, whilst they are alone, make a quick exit and board the next lift. Should a confrontation occur, depress the lift alarm button to attract attention and call the Police at '999', at the earliest opportunity, said police.
