A man who had impersonated a National Environment Agency (NEA) officer to steal from his victims right under their noses was arrested on Thursday morning.
The 46-year-old would approach homes and get the occupants' permission to conduct 'routine preventive measures against mosquito breeding,' the police said in a media statement on Thursday.
He would then steal after telling them to keep away from the hazardous 'tablets' he was using to make their homes mosquito-free.
He targeted public and private homes in Hougang.
In one incident along Poh Huat Road, he returned a second time by breaking in when the victim was not at home.
In all four cases reported from July to September, the victims lost cash, jewellery and other valuables worth at least $30,000 in total to his scam.
