AsiaOne | Thursday, Jul 2, 2015
SINGAPORE - A 35-year-old man will be charged in court on Friday for being in possession of $40,000 worth of casino chips outside a designated site.

In a statement on Thursday, the police said the man had been arrested at the Singapore Cruise Centre Checkpoint on May 12, after he was found with the chips from the Marina Bay Sands casino.

The chips were subsequently seized as case exhibits.

It is an offence under the Casino Control Act to be in possession of more than $10,000 worth of casino chips outside a designated site.

If convicted, the suspect faces a fine of up to $150,000, a jail term of up to five years, or both.
