Man, 40, arrested for attempted armed robbery in Tampines that injured 2 women

SINGAPORE – A 40-year-old man has been arrested for his suspected involvement in a case of attempted armed robbery with hurt, said the police in a statement on May 13.
The incident occurred on May 12 at about 1.30pm along Tampines Street 22.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had allegedly demanded valuables from two female victims, aged 82 and 30.
When they did not comply, he purportedly used a metal rod to assault them.
Both victims sustained injuries and were taken conscious to the hospital.
The suspect was arrested within three hours after a police report was filed. A metal rod was seized as a case exhibit.
The man will be charged on May 14 with the offence of attempted armed robbery with hurt. If convicted, he faces imprisonment of between five and 20 years, and at least 12 strokes of the cane.
