Man, 26, arrested for molesting woman in lift

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 26-year-old man for outraging the modesty of a woman in a lift of a housing estate along St George Rd.
On May 10 at about 9.10am, the 24-year-old female victim entered the lift with her young ward.
As the lift door was about to close, the suspect dashed into the lift and stood next to the victim. When the lift was ascending, the suspect pretended to play with the baby and took the opportunity to molest the victim. The victim was shocked and rushed out of the lift when it opened at her unit's floor.
Upon receiving the report from the victim, police officers combed the neighbourhood for the suspect.
Their efforts paid off when the suspect was spotted at the void deck of a HDB block along St George Rd on the May 14 at 5.15 pm. He was arrested and investigations are ongoing.
The police advised women to be alert and aware of their surroundings. If they are alone when strangers dash into the lift, women are advised to make a quick exit and board the next lift.
