yeap. malaysia is a big country but their intel is solid. that's how they caught Mas selamat. Its who you know and what connections you got. If you are a small fry they would likely not bother. I once know of a very rich Datuk(related to Sugar K) who got kidnapped in the 1980s and a very huge ransom was demanded.this was the second time for him and his family was fedup, made a phone call to KL top brass and they sent down the top guy, IGP and all and within 48 hours the case was solved, All kidnappers were shot dead by SWAT team and he was rescued unharmed.

The fella was in a car by the roadside in a housing estate. A cleaner approached, tapped on the window, made small chat and moved on. Seconds later, a normal motorbike with 2 men went past and emptied bullets into the car killing the chap instantly. The uniformed guys turned up soon after together with the motorbike shooters. The official story was a shootout with the police. This was told by a malaysian colleague who saw the whole thing from his home window.
