PETALING JAYA - A police officer lost his personal belongings, including a pistol and 10 bullets, when his car was broken into while he was ha**ving lunch in Jalan Gombak.
The 43-year-old anti-narcotics officer, who is attached to Bukit Aman's intelligence and operations unit, had met an investigating officer to discuss a drug case at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters.
They then went out in his car and stopped by the roadside at Jalan Gombak to have lunch at a restaurant at 1.45pm.
When they returned to the car at about 2.20pm, they found the rear window shattered.
After checking, the Bukit Aman officer realised that thieves had stolen his bag, which contained his laptop computer and access cards to enter Pulapol (the police training centre) and Bukit Aman headquarters.
Also missing were a semi-automatic pistol and 10 bullets.
It is learnt that the car was frequently used for anti-narcotics ope*rations.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief Senior Asst Comm Gan Kong Meng, who confirmed the incident, declined to comment whether the car was targeted or whether it was robbed at random.
