That is difficult to fathom since self discipline to some is fasting.
anyway fasting based on daylight hours makes no sense if you live above the arctic circle or below antartic circle as certain time of the year, the sun never sets and certain times, the sun never rise. Its difficult if you think the master of the universe have no notion that these areas exist.

During fasting months, muslims indulge in food much more than non fasting month. Their schedules are turned upside down. Deprived of sleep. How to work with no sleep and no food.

Tat why i notice m&ds find good excuse to counter this. During puasa they take it slow...work half day BCOS puasa.. than when hari raya comes about, they take a week off BCOS they need to recover from puasa.
