SINGAPORE - Rules and processes are important to Singapore’s parliamentary democracy, but even more important is that elected representatives have the competence, commitment and conscience to fulfil their duties, Leader of the House Indranee Rajah said on March 6.

If political leaders have these qualities, fewer rules are needed as they can be trusted to do the right thing.

“If they don’t, we can impose and improve as many laws and rules as we like, but democracy and politics will still go wrong,” said Ms Indranee in a speech that closed nine days of debate on the Government’s and ministries’ budgets.

If this war will drag on for another 3 or 4 weeks, the whole bloody world will be in a crisis. Why? Oil prices will skyrocket to above US$120/barrel (now already reaching almost US$90/barrel), economies of Europe, Japan, Korea, Thailand and even China will suffer from the high oil prices, many of the oil facilities (refineries and oil fields) in the allied Gulf nations will be attacked by Iranian drones and missiles since the next 3 to 4 weeks time frame would have given more time to Iran to counter attack, the Gulf nations will then pulled back many of their overseas investments to fund their own reconstruction after the war, Turkey may even turned around and provide intelligence information to Iran if the Kurks will go in to attack Iran on the ground. One must remember that Turkey was never an ally of Israel.

Agree, but will Iran surrender? Looks like not until they have inflicted more destruction to its enemies, or at least until their munitions will have depleted. After all, what else do they have to lose since their Supreme Leader (Ali Khamenei) is already dead. What's more, most of its neighboring Gulf nations (except Iraq) are Sunnis majority whilst Iran is Shiates and these 2 are rivals.
