NATO drills fallout: Norwegian frigate almost underwater after oil tanker collision (PHOTOS)

The Norwegian Navy frigate that tried and failed to return home after parading its might in NATO war games is almost completely submerged under water after colliding with an oil tanker.
Eight people were injured when the KNM Helge Ingstad and the tanker Sola TS collided last week off Norway’s western coast, putting a not-so-great finish on the much touted Trident Juncture 2018 drills – the largest exercise hosted by Norway since the 1980s and the largest that NATO has held in decades.

Since then, the frigate has been slowly sinking. Photos from the scene on Monday show a tiny fraction of the warship above water, with the rest of it completely submerged.

That comes despite the Norwegian military working since Thursday to attempt to salvage the frigate by tethering it to the shore with several wires.

The sinking ship is unfortunate for NATO, considering the Trident Juncture drills were designed to send a “clear message” to “adversaries” that NATO is “ready to defend...against any threat.” Instead, the bloc member’s Navy could now be sent to retest its navigation skills.

While the sinking ship has so far not been pinned on Russia, any such false accusation wouldn’t necessarily come as a surprise. Finland’s prime minister already found a way to blame his country’s malfunctioning GPS signal during the drills on the Kremlin.

The Trident Juncture drills involved 50,000 participants from 31 NATO and partner countries. Around 250 aircraft, 65 vessels, and up to 10,000 vehicles were also involved.

The NATO Navy is incompetent and very lack of basic essential equipment as proven here. They also are SHORT OF FUNDS to engage Civilian Private Salvage Contractors.

Simply the way to prevent sinking on day one should send divers to tie 6 to 10 of these inflatable salvage BUOYS. On both sides. Then a tug boat to tow the ship into a dry dock or shipyard / slip way to lift it off water on to the repair yard. Fucking Gong Kias!

The incompetent Koreans during their pathetic Sewol Ferry at least tried to use one or two (WAY INADEQUATE) inflatable buoys to lift the ferry. They need about a dozen of those - this is a calculation based on ship's displacement and the total buoyancy capacity of buoys. They have to be all balanced on all sides supported by cables installed by divers.



This was one of the inflatable buoy and the Kim-Chi navy divers above the sunken Sewol.




Here got 2 of them.



The correct way is to rig cables 1st. Min 8~10 pairs, secured to ship, the buoys are 1st without inflating, and secured below. Once cables are all secured and arranged in balanced way, then by stages inflate the buoys slowly maintaining balance. If not balance the ship will not be upright and level, not useful if only tilted and partially lifted. Balance is most critical.

Eventually the Kim-Chi failed their salvage. Buoys only left there as a marker. After like a year or more, they paid China to lift that shit up.





The Korean contract request the Chinese to lift it up without upright. Because they want to keep evidence and corpse as intact as possible. For board of inquiry purpose.

The Norwegian military have accused Russia of meddling with the Scandinavian nation’s GPS during NATO’s Trident Juncture military drills – a day after similar, evidence-free allegations came from Finland’s PM.

Some of the troops from 31 countries participating in NATO’s recently-concluded Trident Juncture drills – the alliance’s largest military exercises in decades – reportedly experienced spotty GPS coverage.
Now the Norwegian Defense Ministry tells AP in an email that it “was aware that jamming has been recorded between Oct. 16 and Nov. 7 from the Russian forces,” claiming that the interference came all the way from the Kola peninsula.
No accidents are known to have happened because of the patchy coverage.
Finnish Prime Minister Juha Sipila made similar accusations over the weekend, suggesting that it was possible that Russia was behind the GPS glitches, and vowing to carry out a thorough investigation.
The Russian Defense Ministry has not yet commented on Norway’s claim, but Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Monday described the accusations against Russia as “groundless.”

“We have no knowledge of Russia possibly having any role in GPS malfunction. You should ask experts or the Defense Ministry. But there is an obvious trend to blame Russia for all mortal sins and then some. As a rule, these accusations are baseless,” Peskov said.
