MacDonald's, Swensen's and other restaurants which are addicted to cheap foreign labour are feeling the manpower constraints. It's about time these restaurants pay the true cost of labour and pay Singaporeans their true worth. Gone are the days they can pay $3.50 per hour for their workers.

Pay the workers well and to survive, they will have to negotiate with the landlords to lower the high rentals. If they cant survive, they shd close down and go to Malaysia to other third world countries.

Gov is the biggest landlord, they won't crack their iron rice bowl to help out the workers. workers die first before the PAP.

A friend of mine was working at balithai and they were employing Indian nationals as trainees. They were issued training visa for 3 months each time. He saw 2 of them working and they said that they paid to come here to work. How is mom issuing work passes for waiters and kitchen helpers. By now a lot of the food joints will be doing the same to get cheap workers and mom allowing such training passes.

Yes, shd pay more to get good Singapore workers. Not easy to increase price because low purchasing power. so these businesses got to ask for reduced rent or close shop
