What the fark happened to Starhub? Over promise and under deliver their earlier plan to sell iphone? They are really screwed after losing the EPL bid. Many friends had complained to me about how farked up they are in retaining their customers. Loyal Customers get nothing for staying on with them and they will only give after you try to terminate your service.

SINGAPORE'S smallest mobile operator MobileOne (M1) will begin selling the Apple iPhone by end of the year, breaking Singapore Telecommunications' year-long monopoly on the popular device and leaving No. 2 mobile operator StarHub as the only player without the gadget on its shelves.

M1 issued a terse one-line statement on Tuesday morning saying that it had 'reached an agreement to bring iPhone to customers in Singapore later this year' and will announce the pricing, tariffs and availability dates later.

SingTel has sold more than 100,000 iPhones since it began selling the second generation iPhone, the iPhone 3G, here last August. In July, SingTel began selling the faster but identical iPhone 3GS.

SingTel's exclusivity on the device, which was hailed Time magazine as the invention of the year in 2007, has enabled it to whittle away its competitors' share of the lucrative post-paid mobile customers - something M1 and StarHub executives have acknowledged although it is not known how many subscribers have switched telcos to get the iPhone.

Because iPhone is such a hit, Apple has managed to get many telcos to accept its terms, and the payout to Apple has generally hurt their bottom lines, according to consulting firm Strand Consult.

Not true, still got lots of people no have iphone yet. I am using HTC Hero on ST, but will upgrade/recontract my M1 line for an iphone if the deal is good.

The way things are going I wouldn't be surprised if NTUC, SMRT decides to get into the phone business, one of these days. :) How else are these companies going to expand in Spore
